Dragonfly with Flower and Ivy Leaves Ankle Tattoo

This client gave me the a lot of artistic freedom which was great! I really loved being given a completely blank canvas and she let me create and design to my heart’s content. She only specified that she wanted a dragonfly with some swirly patterns.  She wanted the design to be tattooed around her ankle area, so I mapped out the kind of shape that would look elegant on the leg and created the design around that. I used a combination of line work, pointillism, and whip shading for this tattoo.
